Our 39th President, Jimmy Carter, was born and raised in Plains GA, a well-known peanut farmer in the Peach State. Founded in 1733 as a British colony, the state was named after King George II. Other famous Georgians are Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Ray Charles, and Jackie Robinson, to name just a few – but you might not recognize the name John Stith Pemberton, the chemist who came up with the original formula for Coca-Cola, memorialized in the World of Coca-Cola Museum in Atlanta.
